Vergogna! is a book documenting the waste issue in Campania, Italy. Campania, which is well-known for its landscapes and food culture, has also been under international scrutiny for being the site of an "urgent" waste disposal problem. Reoccurring images of garbage mountains in Naples were presented in newspapers, while the surrounding countryside was virtually ignored by media. It was in the fields and farms of this countryside that local mafia dumped tons of toxic waste. Vergogna! is a story which begins with images of the abandoned landscapes, and then reveals the personal voices of Campania. The book concludes with statistics that reveal the region's environmental and health impacts.
